Governance Process at Arcadia
Arcadia’s governance is designed to be transparent and community-driven. The process is structured in the following stages:
Informal Discussions
- Open discussions and early-stage ideas take place in the public channels of the Arcadia Discord.
- Delegates with >0.5% delegation power gain access to a dedicated governance channel for more focused collaboration.
Formal Discussion (Governance Forum)
- Proposals move to the Arcadia Governance Forum for structured discussion.
- Anyone in the community can create a proposal.
- There must be a minimum of 5 days between the proposal being posted and the start of the vote.
Snapshot Voting
- After forum debate, proposals can move to a Snapshot vote.
- Only a select group of individuals—elected through governance—can create Snapshot voting proposals.
- The voting period lasts 5 days.
- Outcome is determined by majority vote.
Implementation
- Once passed, proposals are implemented by the relevant teams.
- Timelines vary depending on the proposal:
- Major upgrades (e.g. Arcadia V3) may take 6**+ months**.
- Simple changes (e.g. parameter updates) can be implemented immediately after the vote.
- A monthly update will be shared with the community to track the status of passed proposals.
Scope of Governance
Arcadia’s governance covers major strategic and financial decisions, including:
- Approval of grants
- Allocation of the protocol treasury
- Approval of major changes in the project roadmap
- Determining who can propose or vote
- Establishing trust and oversight for the core team
- Amending the governance framework itself
The following areas are not governed through community voting:
- Day-to-day operations of the core team
- Parametrization of on-chain risk models (e.g., liquidation thresholds, collateral factors, interest rates)
- Confidential matters that cannot be shared for regulatory or strategic reasons
